Boston Marathon Memorial Events In Raleigh This Sunday & Monday

There are two great local events scheduled to take place this Sunday and Monday giving Triangle residents the opportunity to come together to honor the victims and heroes of the Boston Marathon bombing. I plan to attend both events and hope to see you out there. See below for additional details about these events and how you can participate.

“Boston Memorial Run” 3pm Sunday – Downtown Raleigh
Join the Tobacco Road Marathon, RunRaleigh Races, nOg Run Club, Raleigh Galloway, City of Oaks Marathon, NCRC, Big Boss Run Club, Blue Run Club, WFAR, Black Girls Run, WOB Run Club and many other local organizations this Sunday, April 21st for a “Boston Memorial Run”. Everyone will be meet at Tir na nOg for a 3 mile run through downtown Raleigh. Wear a race shirt in support of the runners and families. Event organizers will be collecting donations to send to those affected by this horrible tragedy.

Tir na nOg will also be donating 10% of all food sales. Please RSVP to this event on the facebook event page (below) so organizers know how many people to expect.

“A Mile in Memory” 6pm Monday – Downtown Raleigh
In the aftermath of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon Mariah Bridges wanted to provide the opportunity for Triangle residents to come together as a community and honor those in the running world and their families so she is helping to organize “A Mile in Memory” run sponsored by Change the Triangle. The run will start at the corner of Wilmington and Morgan streets in downtown Raleigh at 6 p.m on Monday April 22nd. This event is not just for runners. It is a one mile run/walk you can make it a family event so everyone can participate.

Event partners include Change the TraingleDTR LiveWorkPlayBolt Bistro, and Heat Studio. After the run/walk you have two options to continue the #memorymile spirit! Head over toHeat Stuido for a FREE 6:30 class and make another donation to ONEFUND or head over to Bolt Bistro and dine & socialize. Donations will be accepted and will go to the The One Fund Boston. Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have announced the formation of The One Fund Boston, Inc. to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.
