Ella’s Story
Ella was diagnosed April 29, 2008 with a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. This is a rare, aggressive, non-operable tumor located in the pons area of the brainstem. The prognosis for this type of tumor is extremely grim. There is no cure, no known effective treatment except for radiation-which, for some, provides only temporary relief of the symptoms. Ella lost her brave battle on Wednesday, February 8th while at home with her family.

How can you help
Run. Donate. Support. Proceeds of the Chick-fil-A Connect Race Series of Raleigh help organizations fight for children like Ella. Ella’s supporters believe in the work that The Cure Starts Now and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation do. They are partnering to make this race a reality and to save children diagnosed with cancer and brain tumors.

  1. I wasn’t a huge fan of running, because I like to travel long distances. For awhile, I rode when I wanted to do something outside. Though, I found it more fun to run (and rhyme). Just throw on some shoes, find a trail, and take off. Much easier than carrying my bike in my car. I plan on doing the 5K, since I hadn’t trained for a run. It would be great to run for a cause, too.

  2. I need a tune up for the Rock n Roll full. Would love to run the 10k

  3. Greg Key

I’m also a cyclist who’s spent more time running lately- much easier to get ready for. That’s a great cause! I’d run the 10k.

  4. I haven’t done an official 10k race yet. would love to do my first 10k at Ella’s race.

  5. Tom C

Im an avid runner who has lacked the time and motivation to run much since my son was born in December. Race training would be just the thing to get me back in the groove. Running is a great way to burn off that excess sympathy baby weight!

  6. Dennis

I’d love to do this race to get motivate for spring training. I’d do the 5k

  7. Kylie

I ran Ella’s 10K Race last year. It is small, close to home, well done, great sponsors, and most importantly a fantastic cause that hits close to home. I look forward to running the 10K again this year!

  8. Missy

Hoping to make this my first 5k!

  9. Crystal Bailey
