Motown The Musical Ticket Giveaway!

I am excited to share the news that MOTOWN THE MUSICAL returns to the Durham Performing Arts Center in August for a with performances Tuesday, August 1st through Sunday, August 6th. I’m also thrilled to offer a lucky reader a chance to win two FREE tickets to enjoy the show – thanks to my friends at DPAC!

Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, this musical tells the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and many more.

The show features more than 40 classic hits such as “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and explores how the whole Motown family fought against the odds to create the soundtrack of change in America. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat.

Tickets start at just $30 and can be purchased by going to dpacnc.com or via the Ticket Center at DPAC either in person at 123 Vivian St. Durham, NC 27701 or by phone at 919.281.0818.

I’ve partnered with my friends at DPAC to give away two FREE tickets to a lucky Triangle Explorer reader for the opening night performance on Tuesday, August 1st.  To enter leave a comment below about a fun experience you’ve have had at DPAC or why you love Motown. Motown music puts me in a happy place and DPAC would be the perfect venue to see this show!!

We saw Hedwig at DPAC recently and were very loved by the performance. We aren’t able to afford shows often, so when we do get to go it is quite the treat!

I’ve lived in Durham two years now and have never seen a show at DPAC! This would be an awesome first experience because I grew up listening to Motown. My mom would put on the station every weekend as we cleaned and danced around the house.

Our best experience at DPAC was seeing Newsies. My daughter has taken tap for years but had never seen professionals tap in real life. Watching the tap during Newsies was a thrill for her!

I’d love to be able to take my Dad to this show in August. He attended his first DPAC performance a few years ago with me. We saw Jersey Boys and it was a memorable experience. My eyes weld up with tears as I saw my Dad’s knees bopping to the music and heard him humming the music. He’d never been to a show of that magnitude, only school productions us children had been in while in high school. Our mom passed away years ago at the young age of 51, so making memories like this with our father is so special.

Ah, the anthems of my childhood–usually listening, surreptitiously at night, to Boston AM station WBZ from Alexandria, Virginia.

I first went to DPAC a few years back for A Christmas Carol and recently for Hedwig and the Angry Inch! We’re pretty lucky to have an awesome performing venue like DPAC in our area! I don’t know much about Motown but based on your post, it sounds like I’d love the music!

  10. I grew up loving Motown music. Especially the music of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, there is never a bigger fan in the room than me. What an awesome musical to have in the area to be able to attend.

I’ve live in Durham for quite a while now and haven’t got a chance to experience DPAC yet. Me and my fiance finding great experiences to do this last summer before marriage and our love for Motown music would add a wonderful piece to our memories. We’re teachers so being able to afford many events at DPAC aren’t in our budget. We hope to be choosen for this and enjoy a great show before returning to school!
