Looking for something fun to do this weekend? On Thursday the NC State Fair kicked off and will be going strong through Sunday October 22nd. This is also the last weekend of the Triangle Parade of Homes. It is always fun to go check out some new model houses and tour a few million dollar mansion. Here are the rest of my top picks for the weekend:
Friday – October 13th
Huzzah Plays Mystery Brewing
Huzzah is a North Carolina-based five-piece group that plays acoustic, string-centric hot jazz that builds on music from the early days of the swing era. They conspire to transport you to places like Paris, Times Square and Honolulu using violin, clarinet, guitars, upright and vocals. Huzzah! Free show from 8-10pm at Mystery Brewing Public House in Hillsborough.
Saturday – October 14th
Music at Wake Forest Coffee Compnay
The Wake Forest Coffee Company will host two great musicians, Laurelyn Dossett and Sarah Sophia, from the Triad this Sunday. Laurelyn has appeared on A Praire Home Companion and toured with the NC Symphony Orchestra. Sarah is a remarkable young singer/songwriter who recently released her first EP. Sarah’s musical influences range through many different genres giving her original music a whole new sound and feel of its own. Music is from 7-9pm.
Sunday – October 15th
Bluegrass & Lobster Food Truck in Youngsville
On Sunday Wine & Beer 101 in Youngsville is hosting an outstanding Sunday afternoon of Bluegrass, with Black River Express, food by Cousins Maine Lobster, and dessert by FrostBites! Event runs from 2-6pm. While you are there be sure to check out the the Packhouse Coffee Hut Down the Street!
