My top pick for this weekend is the Big Easy Restaurant Group’s “Fat Tuesday on Fayetteville Street” block party, scheduled for this Saturday, February 28th. All the fun will take place on the 200 block of Fayetteville Street in Downtown Raleigh (map).
“Our goal is to bring the downtown community together for a celebration before the traditional observance of Lent,” says Big Easy Manager Frank Ferlo. “We’re throwing a unique, New Orleans-style Mardi Gras party with live music, street performers, food trucks, games, prizes, giveaways and artisans.”
The event will take place from noon to 10 pm, is open to the public and free.
Tomorrow night, Tuesday March 4th, downtown Durham will showcase a taste of New Orleans Mardi Gras! The night kicks off with the Durham Mardi Gras Parade leaving from CCB Plaza at 7 p.m. From there the celebration travels to Rigsbee Avenue down by Fullsteam Brewey and Motorco Music Hall for a big block party that runs from 7:30 p.m to midnight. The street will be closed to traffic, food trucks will line the block and Free live music will be going on simultaneously at five different stages. Full Music Schedule Below! Hope to see you there!
