Artspace in downtown Raleigh
On the First Friday of every month local galleries in downtown Raleigh open their doors to the public for a introduction to Raleigh’s exciting art scene. I like to hit up the studios at Artspace on East Davie Street next to Moore Square mainly because there are so many art studios clustered in one spot, making it a great destination to take in a lot of art with just one easy stop.

At Artspace they usually have live music on the lower level and offer cheese and crackers along with beer and wine for a modest dontation to enjoy as you stroll through the studios. However, there are multiple galleries and studios worth checking out all over downtown. You can download a map of downtown and view lists of the particpating galleries and special events on the godowntown website.

Morning Times Market Flyer
This Friday, the street in front of Morning Times Coffee Shop will be closed off for an outdoor market known as “The Morning Times Market“. It will feature local art vendors, a local beer tent and live entertainment provided by the Pickle Mamas performing fire hooping and the Raleigh Drum Circle providing rhythmic beats.

Live music on the main level at Artspace
I plan to check out the outdoor market this Friday night in additiona to my usual stop at Artspace. I think it is great to have so many options to pick from. If you don’t make it downtown this month to check it out this Friday (April 1st), make a point of marking the next First Friday (May 6th) on your calendar so you don’t miss all the fun next month. See you downtown!
