Looking for something new and fun to check out this weekend? Here are my top picks of things to explore over the next three days across the Triangle!

Friday
Trombone Quintet at Sharp Nine Gallery

Slide Effects was created in late 2016 to appease the insatiable, never-ceasing public demand for more jazz trombone quintets. They come armed with classic jazz and new improvisational works for five trombones and rhythm section.  The quintet will make its debut appearance Friday night at the The Sharp Nine Gallery in Durham. Get your butt out to hear some of the best trombone playing in the Triangle. Show starts 8pm.  Tickets: $15

Saturday
Spirit Tasting and Cocktail Pop-Up Shop at Crude Bitters
Crude Bitters is kicking off 2017 with a sampling of NC spirits! Tasting will feature four tasting samples. While you taste and learn their cocktail supply shop will be open to shop for bitters, mixers and cocktail tools. The shop will be open 12-5pm, the spirit tasting from 1-4pm. You must be 21+ to partake in the samples. For more information about Crude Bitters visit their facebook page here.

Sunday
Bottle Release & Bluegrass at Fullsteam Brewery
On Sunday Fullsteam Brewery in Durham will host a bottle release for their 8% Baltic Porter made with over 100 pounds of foraged black walnuts collected from the soon to be opened Brumley Forest Nature Preserve. $1 of each bottle purchased benefits the Triangle Land Conservancy. Music by The Bluegrass Battleship beginning at 5:00 PM. All of the event details can be found here.

“Now Open” Picks:
You’ve probably already heard but, there have been a lot of great restaurant openings this month in downtown Raleigh. Just this past week Vidrio, a new Mediterranean restaurant opened its doors along Glenwood Avenue. Also, Trophy Tap & Table is now open in the former Busy Bee location on Wilmington Street. I recommend adding both of these places toy your list to check out soon.
