There is a little bit of everything going on this weekend. From live music, to outdoor movies, and another huge food truck rodeo in downtown Raleigh. The weather looks like it will cooperate this weekend and there are plenty of events to enjoy. Here are my top picks of things to do this weekend with the added bonus of a Thursday night pick!
Thursday – June 8th
Outdoor Movie at Booth Amphitheatre – Cary
The “Movies By Moonlight” series returns to Booth Amphitheatre. Tonight enjoy “La La Land” . Movie starts around 8:30. Tickets are just $5 and kids under 12 are free. You are allowed to bring in chairs, blankets and your own food and drink including beer and wine. Before the movie enjoy music by Tea Cup Gin as they play a selection of indie-jazz and Hollywood themed tunes to get you warmed up for the movie. Gates open at 7pm.
Friday – June 9th
D-Town Brass Band – Carrboro
D-Town Brass is a 15 person psychedelic-jungle-jazz-funk-orchestra from Durham, NC. They describe their music as a “blend of the familiar with the avant-garde with a rhythmic punch that cannot be matched by any band ever in the history of the multiverse.” Show is at the The Station in Carrboro at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance here. ($8 advance / $10 day of show)
Saturday – June 10th
Tiki Party at Fair Game Beverage – Pittsboro
Explore Pittsboro and visit Fair Game Beverage Company to celebrate their birthday from 10am-4pm with a family friendly Tiki Party, featuring a tiki cocktail bar run by Crude Bitters & Sodas and Piedmont Picnic Project, a tap takeover from Four Saints Brewing Company, and food from Brinehaus Meat + Provisions – Event benefits Abundance NC.
King’s Mobile Airstream Launch – Durham
This all-day event runs from 12-8pm and will be located just steps from King’s Sandwich Shop on Geer St across from the old Bull’s Ballpark. Enjoy a great selection of hard cider and both traditional favorites and new offerings from King’s Sandwich Shop! We’ll have tunes going & yard games for all to play!
Sunday – June 11th
Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo
Enjoy 50+ food trucks lined up along Fayetteville Street. Visit the event website to view the list of trucks scheduled. Make sure to make a list of the ones you want to visit and get there early to avoid the lines!
