Dozens of Bull City restaurants and businesses are coming together in support of those who were affected by the Durham gas explosion last month. The event takes place the evening of May 19th at The Rickhouse in Durham. It will be a special night including food from some of Durham’s best eateries, live music, a silent auction with amazing gifts. Over 20 restaurants, breweries and vendors will be donating time, food, and prizes.
100% of proceeds will be donated to affected workers and families, including first responders, restaurant workers who are now out of employment, and the Lee family of Kaffeinate through the Durham Rebuilds Fund.
Ticket prices: $150 VIP early admission (4 p.m.) with an exclusive “In the Parlour” discussion with our city’s food leaders, or $100 for regular admission.
CurEat’s Steve Mangano will host a panel – “In the Parlour with CurEat” – for VIP ticket holders from 4-5pm with Chef Matt Kelly, Durham Distillery’s Melissa Katrincic and several others, on the impact of traumatic events in the industry and the way food is a literal and figurative source of healing.
The goal is to acknowledge and morn the tragedy but also end with an uplifting message around rebuilding and resilience.
