Picture of the Week – Art in the Park

DSC04031

This week’s picture comes from my weekend jaunt to Chapel Hill to take a walk along the Bolin Creek Greenway Trail. There is a nice little park at the entrance to the greenway complete with art and a large rose garden. I found this statue particularly interesting! I should have a post with more pictures from the greenway trail later up this week.

Picture of the Week – Larry’s Beans

Larry's Beans

This week’s picture of the week is a snapshot of the Larry’s Beans Coffee display at Harmony Farms Natural Food Store in North Raleigh.  Larry’s Bean’s roasts organic fair trade coffee beans right here in Raleigh.  Their coffee is served at various locations in the area including New World Coffee in North Raleigh, Taylor’s BP along Six Forks Road, and Third Place in Five Points.

Larry’s Beans recently announced that they will have tours of their roasting facility the third Saturday of each month. The next tour will be held March 20th.  Check out their website for more information.

Picture of the Week – Raleigh Rickshaw

Raleigh Rickshaw 1

This week’s picture of the week is an action shot of some people enjoying a rickshaw ride up Wilmington street in downtown Raleigh.   Now that the Triangle is starting to thaw out, you may be looking for opportunities to enjoy the warmer weather and rickshaw rides are a great way to take advantage of the warmer temps while getting whisked around to different points of interest downtown .  The operators are friendly and knowledgeable about the city so they can give you tips on the latest places to check out.

The Raleigh Rickshaw Co.   provides speacial “Date Night” packages as well as  special tours of historic downtown neighborhoods for a fixed rate (check out their website for details and rates).  Each rickshaw can support up to two adults and one child and with the exception of the package deals  the rickshaw operators work for tips.

Picture of the Week – Beers on tap at Shucker’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Wake Forest

Beers on Tap at Shucker's

This week’s “picture of the week” is a quick shot of the various beers on tap at one of my favorite places, Shucker’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Wake Forest.  I hope to do a full blog post about Shucker’s in the future, but in the meantime here is a quick shot of their draught beer offerings I took while enjoying a beverage at their bar this week.

As you can see they offer everything from Bud Light, Land Shark Lager, Blue Moon, and Fat Tire to Big Boss Bad Penny Ale (which is brewed right here in Raleigh) and Red Oak which is made out towards Greensboro.

As always, please feel free to submit a photo for consideration for future “pictures of the week” by emailing me at TriangleExplorer@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Picture of the Week – Second Empire

Second Empire

I captured this week’s photograph over the weekend while taking a walk along Hillsborough Street in downtown Raleigh. It is a picture of The Dodd-Hindsale House or as is it is more commonly known now, The Second Empire Restaurant. The restaurant’s name is a nod to it’s architectural style known as “Second Empire Victorian”. The home was originally built for Mayor William H. Dodd in 1879. You can read more about it’s history and it’s current dining offerings on the restaurant’s website.

As I mentioned last week, if you have a photo you would like to have posted as the “Picture of the Week” please feel free to email me at TriangleExplorer@gmail.com.
