“Art in the Evening” Series & Live Music Returns to NCMA

Jubala Village Coffee has been a big hit with North Raleigh coffee lovers since they opened in Lafayette Village a little over four years ago. Yesterday they made the big announcement that the city has approved their plans to open a second location inside the beltline along Hillsborough Street in the new Aloft Hotel currently under construction across the street from the iconic NC State Memorial Bell Tower.

The southeast United States’ largest gathering of European motorcycles and Euro-inspired café racers roars into downtown Raleigh this Sunday, April 12th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Now in its sixth year, Eurobike continues its reputation of bringing together the region’s most exotic and elegant examples of European mechanical design as well as showcasing the talents of the area’s amateur and professional bike builders and customizers.

Once again, the Shops at Seaboard Station, located at 5 West Franklin Street (next to William Peace University) in Raleigh, will fill its parking lot with hundreds of motorcycles from brands such as Ducati, BMW, MV Agusta and Triumph as well as current-model and vintage café racers and scooters from around the world. Eurobike features a participant-judged bike show, raffle, vendor booths, food trucks (Chirba Chirba and Prochetta), panel discussions with amateur and professional racers and motorcycle industry insiders, other special guests and live MotoGP race coverage. Eurobike is a family-friendly event and free for the public.

All proceeds from vendor fees, bike show registration costs and raffle ticket sales will benefit SAFEchild, the only child abuse prevention agency in Wake County working directly with families. Whether entering their bikes in the show or not, all motorcyclists – regardless of their machines’ countries of origin – are encouraged to ride to the event to support the love of motorcycling.

Eurobike Preview: Saturday, April 4 from 9-11 a.m. at Fresca Café in Cary’s Waverly Place: MotoEuropa, Cary’s European motorcycle and culture group, will host a sneak peek of some of the bikes that will be on display at Eurobike. Enjoy breakfast and coffee at one of the area’s premier European cafes and learn what’s in store for Eurobike 2015. Fresca Café & Gelato is located in Waverly Place Shopping Center, 302 Colonades Way, Suite #109 in Cary.

Picture of the Week: Arepa Culture Food Truck at Big Boss

Untitled

Arepa Culture NC Food Truck

The weather is finally warming up and it’s time to get outside! This past Sunday I took advantage of the nice day and paid a visit to the Big Boss Run Club. While there I had the pleasure of trying the food from the Arepa Culture food truck for the first time after my run. The truck serves “Arepas”- a gluten free corn based flat bread formed into a patty that is grilled, split open and stuffed with a variety of ingredients. I enjoyed the “La Tica” which is an Arepa stuffed with shredded chicken, sauteed peppers & onions and melted cheese. It went great with a pint of Big Boss Angry Angel Kolsch.

They have several other Arepa offerings including ones with pulled pork bbq, shredded beef, chicken salad and avocado, and a caprese with fresh mozzarella, tomato pesto and olive oil. It’s a great truck and I suggest checking them out if you are on the hunt for a great Arepa or the next time you are looking to try something new. Arepa Culture is very good about letting people know where they will be parked each day by posting their location on social media. You can follow them on twitter, facebook, and instagram to keep tabs on where they will be next.

This was the last Sunday run with the Big Boss Run Club as they transition back to Tuesday night runs at the brewery starting Tuesday March 17th at 7pm. I highly recommend you check it out if you are looking for a fun social run club. It’s free and open to runners of all abilities. Routes offered include 3 and 5 mile options. After each weekly run there is usually a beer special offered by Big Boss with a select beer for just $3 a pint. Food trucks are regular visitors to the club as well.

Cheers to warmer weather!
